A LINE stamp card for an appointment business can be run in two ways: LINE Official Account's free Reward Card, where staff show a QR code at the counter and the client scans it, or a loyalty card kept inside your booking system, next to each client's visit history. The free Reward Card suits a small shop with one front desk. Once you have several staff, busy evenings and lots of regulars, keeping stamps in the same place as your bookings makes them far easier to check and to trust.

Who this guide is for

This guide is for businesses where clients book a time slot: hair salons, barbers, spas and massage shops, nail and lash studios, clinics, tattoo studios and personal trainers. Every example here is about rewarding appointments, not purchases.

If you run a cafe, restaurant or online store, LINE's Reward Card and coupon tools are built around your purchase flow, and LINE's own guides will serve you better than this one.

What LINE Reward Card is and what the free version does well

LINE Reward Card is the digital stamp card inside LINE Official Account Manager. Typically, you design the card, decide how many points complete it, attach a reward coupon and choose an expiry setting. Clients who follow your OA open the card from a chat or a rich menu link.

Reward Card is LINE's product, and its pricing, follower requirements, QR options, expiry settings, coupons and duplicate-scan controls are set by LINE and can change. Confirm the current details in LINE Official Account Manager and LINE's official LINE for Business documentation before you plan around them.

To collect a point, the client scans the shop's Reward Card QR code with LINE, and the point appears on their card. How that QR is presented, for example on a staff phone or in another format, depends on LINE's current options and how you configure the card. When the card is full, the client receives the reward coupon in LINE.

What it does well:

  • Low or no cost. LINE has offered Reward Card as part of LINE OA; check LINE's current terms for your account.
  • No paper. Clients can't lose it in a wallet, and it lives in the app they open dozens of times a day.
  • It grows your OA. Clients generally collect points through your Official Account, so you build a broadcast audience at the same time.
  • It's quick to set up. A solo nail tech can have a working card in an afternoon.

For a one-chair barber who hands out every point personally, that is often enough.

Where counter-based stamps break down

The weak spot is not the card. It's the moment at the counter. A QR scan depends on someone remembering to show it, at the right time, to the right person, once. In a busy appointment business, that moment goes wrong in predictable ways.

  • Forgotten stamps. It's 7 p.m. at a massage shop, three clients are paying at once, and the therapist who finished the 90-minute session is already on the next booking. Nobody shows the QR. On the next visit the client asks for a make-up point you can't verify.
  • Duplicate scans. A client scans twice, or photographs the QR and shares it with a friend. Preventing this depends on how carefully the card is configured and how closely staff watch the screen.
  • Inconsistent rules. Your rule is one stamp per visit, but the front desk gives two for a long color appointment because it "felt fair." Multiply that by three staff members and your rules drift.
  • No link to the actual visit. The point lives in LINE, while the appointment lives in your booking calendar or notebook. You can't easily answer "did this client really come in four times?"
  • Staff phone access. If your QR is shown from the OA app, someone has to hold it on their phone. When the owner is away, either a manager gets admin access or points stop.

None of these are disasters on their own. Together, they make clients trust the card less, and a loyalty card clients don't trust stops changing behavior.

Keeping your LINE points system next to your bookings

The alternative is to run loyalty in the same system that holds your appointments. Instead of a separate card living only in LINE, the client's loyalty status sits on their client profile alongside visit history, preferences and notes.

That changes a few everyday situations:

  • When a client says "I'm sure I had five stamps," anyone on the team can open their profile and see both the loyalty status and the visits behind it.
  • Your rules are written down in one place, so a new receptionist isn't guessing what earns a stamp.
  • Loyalty sits beside the rest of your retention tools, such as packages and gift cards, instead of in a separate app.

In JaaTime, loyalty stamps and tiers are part of the Pro plan, and loyalty status appears on the same client profile as the booking history. To be clear, JaaTime's product reference confirms stamps, tiers and loyalty status beside client history, but it does not state that a stamp is awarded automatically when an appointment is completed. The comparison below is therefore counter QR scanning versus an integrated loyalty record you can check against visits, not manual versus automatic stamps. The growth and loyalty guides in the Help Center explain exactly how stamps are set up and given, so check them against the rules you want to run.

A fair summary: LINE Reward Card is a good marketing tool, while a stamp card inside your booking system is also a record you can check. If your stamps are being disputed or ignored, the problem is usually the record, not the reward.

Example stamp rules for salons, massage shops and nail studios

The best rules match how often clients naturally come back. Here are starting points you can adapt.

A salon loyalty system

Clients return every 4-8 weeks for cuts and less often for color, so count visits rather than spend.

  • One stamp per appointment.
  • 6 stamps earns a free treatment or blow-dry, not a free color service.
  • Optional tier: clients with 10 or more visits a year get priority booking around Songkran and New Year.

A massage shop or spa card

Regulars may come weekly or every two weeks, so the card fills faster.

  • One stamp per session of 60 minutes or longer.
  • 10 stamps earns a free 60-minute session, valid on weekdays only to protect weekend capacity.
  • Short add-ons like a 30-minute foot massage don't earn stamps on their own.

Nail and lash studios

Refills every 2-3 weeks make these natural stamp businesses.

  • One stamp per refill or full set.
  • 8 stamps earns free nail art on the next set or a free lash removal.
  • Removal-only visits don't count, which keeps the rule simple.

If you run a clinic or tattoo studio where visits are rarer and pricier, consider tiers or prepaid packages instead of a 10-stamp card. A client who visits twice a year will never finish one. See how different industries approach retention.

Choosing rewards and stamp counts without hurting margin

A stamp card is a discount you pay later. Work out the real cost before you publish your card.

Here is a quick check. Suppose a 60-minute massage costs ฿400 and your card gives a free one after 10 paid sessions. The reward equals one session out of eleven, roughly 9% back at retail. Your real cost includes the therapist's labor or commission for that hour, oil and laundry, and the opportunity cost of a bookable slot that could have gone to a paying client. The incremental cost is lower than the menu price only when the free session uses capacity that would otherwise sit empty. Treat these numbers as an example and use your own.

Rules of thumb that protect margin:

  • Reward with spare capacity. Free sessions valid Monday to Thursday fill an empty slot instead of replacing a paid Saturday booking.
  • Reward with low-cost upgrades. A hair mask, hot stone add-on or nail art costs little in materials but feels generous.
  • Keep the target reachable. If a regular can't fill the card within about 3-4 months, they stop caring.
  • Set an expiry. Six to twelve months keeps outstanding rewards from piling up and creates gentle urgency.
  • Don't stack. Decide whether stamps can be earned on promocode bookings. Most shops say no.

  4. Step 4

    Connect your LINE OA

On Pro, link your own LINE Official Account so confirmations and reminders arrive as LINE messages from your shop.

  5. Step 5

    Announce the switch

Broadcast the new card to followers and share your end date and policy for the old Reward Card.

If you're a solo owner just starting out, the Free plan's booking page and LINE reminders plus LINE's free Reward Card is a sensible first step. The LINE setup guides explain how the pieces connect.

JaaTime Pro cost

Loyalty stamps and tiers, packages and gift cards are included in Pro, along with your own LINE OA connection, marketing automation, advanced analytics and removal of the "Powered by JaaTime" badge. Max adds multi-branch features and unlimited team seats. Annual billing gives you two months free, and downgrading later disables features without deleting your data.

When your team grows and stamps start slipping through the cracks at the counter, that's the signal to move loyalty into the same place as your bookings.

10Questions and answers

01Is LINE Reward Card free to use?

LINE has offered Reward Card as part of LINE Official Account, but pricing and features are set by LINE and can change. Check LINE Official Account Manager and LINE for Business documentation for the current terms. Clients collect points by scanning your shop's Reward Card QR code.

02Do clients need to follow my LINE OA to use a LINE stamp card?

Generally yes: with LINE Reward Card the client holds the card through your Official Account, which also adds them to your broadcast audience. Confirm the current requirements in LINE's official documentation.

03What should I do with clients' old points when I switch loyalty systems?

Announce a clear end date, let clients redeem full cards until then, and set a written policy for partly filled cards, such as a one-time welcome bonus. Telling regulars by LINE broadcast avoids disputes at the counter.

04Which JaaTime plan includes stamp cards?

Loyalty stamps and tiers are part of JaaTime Pro, which also includes packages, gift cards and your own LINE OA connection. Max includes everything in Pro plus multi-branch features, and every new account can try Max free for 14 days.

05How many stamps should a salon or massage shop require?

Match the count to how often regulars return so a loyal client can fill the card in about 3-4 months. That often means around 6 visits for hair salons, 8 for nail refills and 10 for weekly or fortnightly massage clients.
